2011 Sport & Leadership Youth Conference

From April 4-8th, the Aboriginal Sports Circle NWT hosted the 2011 Sport & Leadership Youth Conference in Yellowknife. The conference brought together 11 youth from across the territory to participate in three days of intense comprehensive training in all aspects of leadership, using examples and teachings from both traditional and contemporary viewpoints.

Participants heard from a variety of speakers, participated in traditional games and leadership activities, and had the opportunity to have their pictures taken by Yellowknife photographer, Dave Brosha, after promising to stay smoke free through the ‘Don’t be a Butthead’ campaign. Opportunities such as this are an excellent way to promote healthy living in our communities through our future leaders.
